As teachers we often hear from students about how they revise or study. We usually emphasise the importance of writing as this does impact on learning retention ? However, how often do we see students writing and being comfortable with the process and more importantly understanding the different types of writing required both at high school and university levels?
In the busyness of our classrooms, we sometimes don’t have time to spend on teaching the various structures of text or help develop student’s proficiency in this. The number of universities that have active academic learning centres of study cent res is proof of the need for these skills.
